Hello ya’ll! My name is J.D. Arp. I am a small town country boy with gigantic dreams. I have been enjoying the wonderful outdoors since I was old enough to lean over dad’s shoulder, aim, and squeeze the trigger. My mom and dad have taken me hunting, fishing, shooting, and much more since I was “knee high to a grasshopper”. Thanks to their love, support, and time spent with me, I am driven to pursue my dreams. They have truly given me a solid foundation for a life filled with outdoor adventures.

I was fortunate enough growing up to have other members of my family, as well as friends, who also played a vital role in my love for the outdoors. I volunteer in introducing our youth to the same life changing experiences the outdoors has given me. Our home town club, the Sheffield Rod and Gun Club, has given me many opportunities to give back. My dad and I set up and tore down the Woods Walk Shoot for many years. This consisted of clearing brush, mowing grass, and painting of metal swinging targets to cover up shot-off paint chips. Depending on the shoot, the number of targets we maintained were from 100 – 125. A lot of hard work and hours went into preparing for this shoot, however, many father/son memories were made and will never be forgotten.

My family and I also volunteered our time to the Sheffield Rod and Gun Club youth fishing derby. We would load the fish from the hatchery and stock them into a small creek with man made dams used in containing the fish. On the day of the fishing derby, we would hand out refreshments, take photographs, and enjoy the ear to ear smiles of all the kids holding there prize catches.

The Sheffield Youth Trap Team is also near and dear to my family’s hearts. My dad and I volunteered years of our time to introduce 9-12 graders to the world of shotgun sports. Our Varsity and Junior Varsity teams shot very well every year. Seeing the successful level of improvement the kids displayed, drove us coaches even further. It wasn’t just about shooting BB’s at clay targets; it also involved learning firearm safety (first and foremost), life lessons, and hours of healthy activity everyone enjoyed.

I want to thank you for reading this bio of myself. I wish you and your family many memories made together through enjoying the fabulous outdoors.
